Our Founder and CEO
AccuScribe originated out of an immediate need for well-trained medical transcriptionists (MTs) in the Charleston tricounty area in May of 1996 by Mrs. Trudi A. Griffith, CMT, FAAMT. At the time, Mrs. Griffith was a 20-plus-year veteran in the medical transcription industry.
Filling a Need
After developing and teaching a medical transcription continuing education course for Trident Technical College in 1997, Mrs. Griffith discovered that after completing the training, the trainee MTs were having difficulty finding employment. No one wanted to hire a new MT. As a result, Mrs. Griffith decided to recruit the trainees into her company and take on new accounts to complete their training and employability. Since this time, AccuScribe has experienced on average a 100% annual growth rate and multiple internship programs have been developed across the country with colleges experiencing the same difficulties placing trainees.
Keeping Up with the Healthcare Industry
In early 2000, AccuScribe moved to the Document Enterprise Platform (DEP) by Speechmachines that was newly launched in the United States as a revolutionary Internet-based transcription platform using an Internet-based transcription model. As one of the first companies to subscribe to this new concept that was never before seen in the healthcare world, we quickly saw the efficiency and value the Web-based transcription module could bring to our clients and faithful users.
